Virna Barolo – Cannubi Boschis 2005

Hemispheres Wine Guild
Virna Barolo - Cannubi Boschis 2005

Very intense aromatics, lots of licorice, white truffles, toasty oak, almost a floral character with earthy support. The palate is rich and powerful with firm yet fine grained tannins; it finishes with long (15 second) strawberry and leather notes. This is a wine and a half; it possesses everything that makes Nebbiolo such an exciting varietal in this unique terroir. It is the sort of wine which will inspire people to try and replicate (unsuccessfully) outside of Barolo. Fantastic, 97 points. Cellar 5-15 years.
