Aglianico seems to do best on the high volcanic mountain slopes of Campania, in vineyards like “Roccamonfina” (meaning “fine mountain rock”). The aromas are intense with notes of licorice, black cherries, cocoa, and pipe tobacco. On the palate, this wine shows excellent French oak integration, despite its’ obvious weight and structure. It is a wine for cellaring, as only time will calm the feisty tannic grip and finish this fine sculpture. Cellar 3-13 years.
