Te Mata Syrah 2012

This cool climate Syrah is a very different beast than the burly Shiraz wines often seen from Australia. This style is more in keeping with the elegant and spicey wines seen from the Northern Rhone Valley. The nose shows crushed black pepper, dusty minerality, potpourri, and smokey oak. The palate is medium bodied with savoury backbone, soft tannins and a crisp finish. Eminently drinkable. Drink now to 2022.
