Hand picked grapes from their oldest vineyards in the poor clay limestone soils at the base of the Sierra Cantabria Mountains. Traditional blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. The wine was aged for 24 months in predominantly French oak with a further 3 years in bottle. The elegant 2006 vintage has delivered a very balanced wine with notes of anise, dried rosemary, cocoa and chalky minerality. Surprisingly dense and viscous on the palate with a long fine grained finish. Stylish modern style of Rioja. 94 points.
