The grapes for this wine come from the Naramata Bench sub-region of British Columbia. It is made up of two vineyard parcels of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. These grapes were hand harvested prior to fermentation in open vats with a long, hand plunged, maceration schedule. The wine was then basket pressed and matured in French and American oak barriques for 10 months, prior to blending and bottling.
The wine shows aromas of plums, chocolate, espresso, vanilla bean and licorice. The palate is very full bodied with a finely structured backbone of dusty tannins and a warming cassis mouthfeel. The wine would pair well with hearty stews or grilled reds meats. Drink 2015-2025.
