Maison Sichel Sauternes 2008

Maison Sichel Sauternes 2008
Clos Sainte Anne Pommerol 2010

This is a classic example of the famous desert wine of Sauternes. It is a blend of 80% Semillon, 15% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. 2008 had the perfect conditions for this style of wine. The grapes were allowed to shrivel on the vine with the presence of Botrytis. Multiple passes (picking) occurred in the vineyard, with only the sweetest berries used. These grapes were then pressed and fermented in French oak barriques before maturation for 12 months. This wine has a golden colour with notes of citrus, marmalade, dried apricots, ginger and dusty oak complexity. The palate is very full bodied, with honeyed richness, medium sweetness and a long warm finish. Drink now to 8 years.
