It is made from the traditional combination of Grenache (Noir) with lesser amounts of Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan and Mouvedre. As with most Southern Rhone wines, it sees very little new oak and has a definite sense of place. The aromas show ripe notes of strawberry jam, figs and raisins with savoury nuances of lead pencil, horse saddle and earth. The palate is full bodied with firm tannins and a long warming finish. This wine has good inherent balance of fruit versus structure and should age well
