This wine was grown on the slopes of the active volcano of Mt Etna. It is a blend of 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio grapes. Nerello Cappuccio is sometimes referred to as the Nebbiolo of Sicily, with similar pale colour and powerful tannins. This wine is unfiltered, organically farmed and naturally fermented, spending 12 months in new French oak. The colour is pale red with aromas of strawberries, cranberries and dried Mediterranean herbs. The palate is intense with notes of liquorice, espresso and very firm grip. Some spritz, needs decanting. Try with slow cooked brisket.
