Along with Taurasi, this DOC is arguably one of the top regions for Aglianico in Italy. The grapes were grown in volcanic soils and the wine was matured in 80% large Slavonic oak and 20% French barriques. It is intense with aromas of tar and liquorice with developed flavours of aniseed, tobacco and leather carrying on to the palate. There are powerful tannins and a long mineral finish. Pair with Pecorino-Romano cheese and Capocollo ham. Drink now to 2028.
